What does Daniel 1:9 mean?

Daniel was a young man taken captive to a foreign land, facing pressure to abandon his faith and eat food forbidden by his beliefs. When he asked the chief official for permission to eat differently, God worked in the official's heart, making him willing to listen and help instead of punish. This shows that God doesn't abandon us when we're far from home or in situations beyond our control, but can quietly open doors through the people around us. Sometimes faithfulness doesn't mean dramatic miracles, but rather the smaller grace of finding kindness in an unexpected place.
