Colossians 3:9
“Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,”
What does Colossians 3:9 mean?
Paul is calling believers to leave behind deception as part of their transformed life in Christ. When you decide to follow Jesus, you're essentially shedding an old way of living—the selfishness, fear, and dishonesty that used to drive you—and putting on a new identity centered on truth and integrity. Lying to others contradicts that fresh start, because it means reverting to the old patterns you've already chosen to leave behind. The simple point is this: if you've genuinely changed, let your words reflect that change.
