Colossians 3:1
“If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.”
What does Colossians 3:1 mean?
Paul is reminding people who have become Christians that their old way of living has already died with Christ, and they've been brought into a completely new kind of life. Because of this fundamental shift in their identity, he's inviting them to orient their desires and energy toward what's eternal and true rather than getting caught up in the temporary stuff that pulls everyone down. The "right hand of God" is ancient language for being in the place of power and honor, so Paul is essentially saying: put your heart where Jesus actually is now, not where the world tells you to look. This isn't about being distant or detached from real life, but about letting your deepest longings align with what's actually real and lasting.
