Colossians 1:7
βeven as you learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful servant of Christ on our behalf,β
What does Colossians 1:7 mean?
Epaphras was the one who first brought the Christian faith to the Colossian church, and Paul is affirming what a trustworthy guide he's been to them. By calling him "beloved" and "faithful," Paul is reassuring his readers that the foundation they've built their faith on is solid and true. This matters especially because the Colossians were being tempted by false teachings, so Paul wanted them to remember that they'd received genuine, Christ-centered instruction from the start. It's a gentle reminder that they can trust what they already know to be true.
