Amos 7:8
“Yahweh said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “Behold, I will set a plumb line in the middle of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.”
What does Amos 7:8 mean?
A plumb line is a simple tool that shows when something is perfectly straight or seriously out of alignment. In this vision, God uses it as a picture of judgment: He's measuring Israel against His standard of justice and righteousness, and they're found wanting. The people have drifted so far from God's ways that they can't claim ignorance anymore. The phrase "I will not again pass by them any more" is significant.
