Amos 7:6

What does Amos 7:6 mean?
In this moment, the prophet Amos has just witnessed a vision of God preparing locusts to destroy Israel's crops, and he cries out that the nation cannot survive such devastation. God hears his plea and changes course, deciding not to bring this judgment. The phrase "relented" shows that God responds to intercession, that prayer and honest conversation can shift what seems fixed. It's a deeply comforting image: even when we're facing consequences or when the world looks dire, God remains open to our cries and can redirect what's coming. This doesn't mean we get whatever we want, but it does mean we're heard, and that matters.
