Amos 6:11
““For, behold, Yahweh commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, and the little house into bits.”
What does Amos 6:11 mean?
God is warning that judgment is coming for those who have built their wealth and comfort on injustice. The "great house" represents the mansions of the rich and powerful who have exploited others, while the "little house" may refer to the homes of the poor they've harmed, or it could mean that no structure, large or small, will escape what's coming. Amos delivered these messages during a time of outward prosperity in Israel, but beneath the surface, corruption and cruelty toward the vulnerable were widespread. This verse reminds us that God sees inequity and won't allow it to continue indefinitely, no matter how secure it might appear or how impressive the buildings that house it.
