What does Amos 5:19 mean?
Amos paints a picture of inescapable danger to show how serious God takes injustice. This prophet is saying that no matter which way people turn—whether they flee one threat or try to find safety—they'll encounter another. The image isn't meant to be literally about animals, but rather to convey that running from God's judgment won't work. You can't outrun consequences through clever escape routes or by hiding in what seems like a safe place.
