What does Amos 5:15 mean?
Amos was speaking to people who had grown comfortable with injustice, and he's calling them back to basics: reject what's wrong, choose what's right, and make sure your legal system actually protects the vulnerable instead of favoring the wealthy and powerful. The "remnant of Joseph" refers to the surviving people of the northern kingdom, and Amos is saying that if they turn toward justice and goodness, God might show them mercy instead of the judgment that seems to be coming their way. What makes this verse powerful is how it connects our personal choices to community outcomes.
