Acts 4:26
βThe kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.ββ
What does Acts 4:26 mean?
When people in power unite against God's purposes, they're working against something far greater than themselves. This verse quotes Psalm 2 and was spoken by early believers facing real threats from authorities who wanted to stop them from speaking about Jesus. The apostles recognized that the opposition they faced wasn't random or surprising, but part of a larger, ancient pattern of human resistance to God's reign. Even when earthly powers seem overwhelming, this verse reminds us that their authority has limits, and God's purposes ultimately cannot be thwarted by human schemes.
