Acts 3:1
“Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.”
What does Acts 3:1 mean?
Peter and John were heading to the temple during the afternoon prayer time, around 3 p.m. by modern reckoning. The ninth hour was one of several set times each day when Jewish people gathered for prayer and worship, giving structure and rhythm to their spiritual lives. This ordinary moment of faithful routine is about to become extraordinary, because right after this, they'll encounter a beggar at the temple gate and witness something that will shake Jerusalem and change everything about their ministry. The verse shows us these disciples continuing in the habits of their faith, present and available when God was ready to work.
