What does Acts 27:40 mean?
When a ship is in danger and you're running out of options, sometimes you have to commit fully to your only remaining path forward. Paul and the sailors had been trapped in a violent storm for two weeks, and their ship was being torn apart. With anchors dragging and the vessel breaking up, they made the desperate choice to cut loose from their anchors and steer toward the beach, using a small sail to catch the wind and drive toward shallow ground where they might save themselves. There's something profound in that moment of letting go. They couldn't hold on to safety anymore because the anchors were pulling them toward death.
