What does Acts 27:4 mean?
When Paul and his companions set sail for Rome as prisoners, they immediately ran into rough conditions. Rather than fighting a headwind directly across open water, the ship's captain made the wise choice to sail close to the island of Cyprus, using its land mass as a shield against the opposing winds. It's a simple detail about navigation, but it reflects something true about hard journeys: sometimes wisdom means taking the longer route that protects you, rather than pushing straight ahead into what will wear you down. Even in circumstances beyond their control, Paul and those with him found a way forward.
