What does Acts 22:25 mean?
Paul is about to be flogged by Roman soldiers, but he stops them with a simple question about the law. As a Roman citizen, Paul had legal protections that his captors were about to violate. Rather than passively suffer or cry out in pain, he appeals to the very system of justice his persecutors represent, forcing them to recognize his rights. This moment shows Paul's practical wisdom alongside his faith. He knows when to stand firm on principle and when to use legitimate means available to him. His question doesn't come from pride or a desire to avoid suffering altogether, but from a recognition that unlawful treatment deserves to be challenged.
