What does Acts 2:42 mean?
The earliest believers weren't scattered or uncertain after Jesus ascended, but instead devoted themselves to four interconnected practices that held their community together. They stayed committed to learning from the apostles (who had walked with Jesus), they shared life with one another, they gathered for meals (likely including what became known as communion), and they prayed constantly. What's beautiful here is that Luke shows us a community that didn't just believe the same things, but actively lived those beliefs together through teaching, relationship, shared meals, and prayer, making their faith something practiced and lived rather than merely intellectual.
