Acts 2:38
“Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
What does Acts 2:38 mean?
Peter is telling the crowd gathered at Pentecost that they can find forgiveness and new life by turning away from their sins and being baptized in Jesus's name. The promise here is that when we genuinely change direction in our hearts and commit to following Jesus through baptism, God doesn't hold our failures against us anymore. Beyond that cleansing, Peter promises something even deeper: the Holy Spirit himself comes to live in us, transforming us from the inside out and giving us the power to actually live differently.
