Acts 2:36
““Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.””
What does Acts 2:36 mean?
Peter is declaring to the people of Jerusalem that Jesus, the one they put to death, is actually God's appointed leader and the promised Messiah. This is the climax of his first major sermon after the resurrection, spoken with the authority of the Holy Spirit. He's not softening the truth of what they did, but he's also not leaving them without hope, because the next verse invites them to repent and be baptized. The announcement cuts to the heart: they killed someone God had already crowned as both Lord (ruler) and Christ (the anointed one Israel had been waiting for), and that death didn't stop God's plan, it fulfilled it.
