What does Acts 2:13 mean?
On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit filled the disciples and they began speaking in languages they'd never learned, some bystanders in the crowd assumed they were drunk. It's a very human response to something that doesn't make sense: when people act strangely or speak with unusual passion and intensity, skepticism is often the first reaction. The mockers were probably trying to explain away something genuinely supernatural by reducing it to something ordinary and dismissible. Their scorn reminds us that encountering God's power doesn't automatically create belief, even when you're standing right there watching it happen. Sometimes people would rather laugh than admit they've witnessed something beyond their understanding.
