What does Acts 2:10 mean?
This verse is part of Luke's list of people who had gathered in Jerusalem for Pentecost, the Jewish festival celebrating the harvest. What's striking here is the sheer geographic spread: Luke is naming regions and cities across the Mediterranean world to show that Jews and converts to Judaism had come from everywhere, traveling sometimes months to be in the holy city for this feast. When the Holy Spirit arrives and each person hears the gospel in their own language (as described in the surrounding verses), it's a powerful sign that God's message isn't limited to one place or people. The inclusion of these far-flung locations reminds us that faith communities have always been wonderfully diverse, crossing oceans and deserts to worship together.
