What does Acts 19:9 mean?
When Paul encountered people in Ephesus who refused to listen and actively spoke against his message about Jesus, he made a wise decision to step away from that conflict. Rather than waste energy arguing with those determined not to hear him, he gathered the believers who were genuinely interested and moved to a different location, a lecture hall called the school of Tyrannus, where he could teach without constant hostility. This shows us something important about discernment: sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is redirect our energy toward those who are open and willing to learn, rather than pouring ourselves out trying to convince the unwilling. It's a gentle reminder that rejection isn't always personal failure, and that moving forward with our community of faith can be the right path.
