Acts 19:7
“They were about twelve men in all.”
What does Acts 19:7 mean?
Paul had just encountered a group of believers in Ephesus who had received John the Baptist's baptism but hadn't yet experienced the gift of the Holy Spirit. When Paul explained the fuller message of Jesus and baptized them in his name, the Spirit came upon them in a powerful and visible way, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. This verse simply notes that this small group numbered around twelve people, reminding us that sometimes God's most important work happens quietly, in modest gatherings, with just a handful of faithful people willing to encounter him more deeply.
