What does Acts 17:6 mean?
A mob in Thessalonica couldn't find Paul and his companions, so they grabbed Jason (who had likely hosted them) and dragged him before city officials with an accusation. The phrase "turned the world upside down" wasn't meant as a compliment, even though it actually captures something true about the gospel's power. What the accusers meant as a complaint, revealing their fear that these Jesus-followers were disrupting the social and religious order they depended on, actually shows how radically the message of Christ challenged the powers and assumptions of that time. Sometimes when we're accused of causing trouble by living out our faith, it might be worth asking whether we're actually standing for something that truly matters.
