Acts 15:7
“When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News, and believe.”
What does Acts 15:7 mean?
Peter stands up in a heated debate about whether non-Jewish people can truly belong in God's family, and he reminds everyone of something they'd already witnessed but seem to have forgotten. Years earlier, God had already shown that he welcomes outsiders by giving Peter the remarkable experience of preaching to a Roman officer named Cornelius, whose whole household believed without needing to follow Jewish customs first. Peter is essentially saying: "God already answered this question through what happened to me. Why are we debating something God has already settled?" It's a gentle but firm call to trust what they've actually seen God do, rather than getting tangled up in rules and arguments about how salvation should work.
