Acts 1:4
“Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.”
What does Acts 1:4 mean?
Jesus gathered his followers in Jerusalem after his resurrection and gave them a surprising instruction: stay put and wait. He wasn't asking them to rush out and start their ministry right away, but to remain in the city until they received what he called "the promise of the Father" (the Holy Spirit, as becomes clear in the next verses). This teaches us something tender about how God works. Sometimes following Jesus means waiting in uncertainty rather than immediately taking action. The disciples had to trust that what Jesus promised would actually come, even though they didn't fully understand what they were waiting for.
