What does Acts 1:19 mean?
When Judas died after betraying Jesus, the manner of his death was so public and shocking that the people of Jerusalem gave the land where it happened a grim name: the field of blood. This wasn't just geography; it was a walking reminder of betrayal and its consequences, hard to ignore for anyone living in the city. The disciples are telling this story to help the new community understand not only what happened, but why they needed to choose someone to replace Judas among the apostles.
