What does 2 Timothy 3:2 mean?
Paul is describing a troubling pattern he sees coming, where people become absorbed in their own desires and status. He's painting a picture of a society where self-interest runs the show, where money and image matter more than integrity, and where basic respect—for God, for parents, for gratitude itself—falls away. What makes this passage worth sitting with is that Paul isn't writing as an angry prophet hurling accusations from above. He's warning Timothy (a young pastor) so he won't be blindsided by the selfishness he'll encounter in people around him, even in his community.
