What does 2 Timothy 2:22 mean?

Paul writes to his young protégé Timothy with practical wisdom about two directions a person can run in. Instead of chasing after desires that pull you away from God, he's urging Timothy (and us) to actively chase after something better: right living, genuine faith, love, and peace, especially in community with others who are serious about following Jesus. The beauty here is that Paul isn't just saying "don't do that," but "do this instead." He recognizes that simply resisting temptation is hard without something meaningful to move toward. When you're surrounded by people genuinely seeking God with sincere hearts, you're more likely to grow in the direction that matters most. It's an invitation to find strength not through willpower alone, but through pursuing good things alongside others who understand what you're after.
