What does 2 Timothy 2:13 mean?
The heart of this promise is that God's character doesn't shift based on our performance. When we stumble, doubt, or fall short, we don't somehow cancel out God's commitment to us—his faithfulness isn't a reward we can forfeit by being unfaithful. The second sentence explains why: God can't deny himself. It's not that he reluctantly stays loyal despite our failures. Rather, faithfulness is so core to who he is that abandoning us would mean abandoning his own nature. It would be a contradiction of himself, which is impossible. This is especially comforting when you're in a season of weakness, struggling faith, or even feeling distant from God.
