What does 2 Timothy 1:13 mean?

Paul is writing to his young friend Timothy, who's leading a church and facing real pressure to compromise what he's been taught. Paul is essentially saying: keep the core message you learned from me as your anchor, and let your faith in Christ and genuine love for people shape how you live it out. The beauty here is that Paul isn't asking Timothy to be rigid or fearful. He's asking him to hold onto something solid (the reliable teachings) while staying rooted in faith and love, which are the actual heart of everything. It's a reminder that staying true to what matters most doesn't mean becoming cold or defensive, but rather becoming more loving and more trusting in Jesus.
