What does 2 Thessalonians 3:11 mean?
Paul is addressing a real problem in the Thessalonian church: some people had stopped working, possibly because they believed Jesus was returning so soon that ordinary jobs seemed pointless. Instead of using their time productively, they were meddling in others' affairs and creating disruption. He's not calling out laziness in a harsh way so much as naming the contradiction: these folks had energy for gossip and interference, just not for work that contributes to their own livelihood or their community. The point is gentle but clear: choosing not to work while staying busy with other people's business doesn't reflect the kind of faithful, grounded life Paul encourages.
