What does 2 Samuel 3:37 mean?

When Abner, a powerful military commander, was suddenly murdered, everyone in Israel recognized that King David had nothing to do with it. This moment matters because David's reputation was on the line, and the people needed to know he wasn't behind the killing. By publicly demonstrating his grief and refusing to benefit from the death, David showed his integrity and prevented what could have become a dangerous spiral of suspicion and retaliation. Sometimes what we don't do speaks as loudly as what we do, and our character is revealed in how we respond when we're falsely suspected of something.
