What does 2 Samuel 2:6 mean?
David is speaking to the people of Jabesh-gilead, who risked their lives to retrieve the bodies of King Saul and his son Jonathan from the walls of Beth-shan so they could be properly buried. In their culture, leaving the dead exposed was considered deeply shameful, so this act was both dangerous and deeply faithful to honoring the fallen.
