Absalom is tempted by the promise of quick resolution and unity, but the plan assumes that eliminating one person erases the complex loyalties and real trauma underneath the conflict. In reality, civil wars rarely end that neatly, and the verse captures that seductive lie: "just handle this one thing, and harmony returns."
