What does 2 Samuel 17:14 mean?
When Absalom rebelled against his father King David, he had two advisors offering very different strategies. Ahithophel gave shrewd, practical military counsel that would have crushed David quickly, but Hushai (who was secretly loyal to David) offered flattery and a slower approach that appealed to Absalom's pride. The people chose Hushai's advice, and this decision ultimately led to Absalom's defeat and death.
