What does 2 Samuel 14:3 mean?

Joab, a military commander trying to help King David work through grief over his estranged son Absalom, enlisted a wise woman to approach the king with a carefully crafted story. He basically coached her on what to say, knowing that sometimes a king needs to hear truth from an unexpected voice rather than from his inner circle. This moment captures something deeply human: sometimes we need someone else to help us see what we're avoiding, and sometimes the people who care about us most will go to creative lengths to help us move forward.
