“But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
What does 2 Peter 3:8 mean?
God doesn't experience time the way we do. What feels like an endless wait to us, or what seems impossibly far away, exists differently in God's perspective, where a thousand years can pass like a single day. Peter is writing to people anxious about Christ's return, reminding them that God's timeline isn't slow or delayed from God's vantage point, even if it feels that way to us. This doesn't mean we shouldn't long for Jesus to come back, but rather that we can trust God isn't forgetful or stuck in our human sense of urgency.
