What does 2 Peter 1:2 mean?

Peter opens his letter by wishing his readers something wonderful: that God's grace and peace would overflow in their lives, growing stronger as they came to know God and Jesus more deeply. He's not just offering a polite greeting, but expressing his genuine hope that their relationship with God would be the source of everything that steadies and sustains them. The more we truly know God, Peter suggests, the more we experience the calming confidence that comes from being loved and forgiven. It's an invitation to see that knowing God isn't something distant or intellectual, but something that changes how we feel and live day to day.
