What does 2 Kings 8:28 mean?

King Ahaziah of Judah joined forces with his northern neighbor King Joram in a military campaign against the Syrian king Hazael. During the battle at Ramoth Gilead, Joram was wounded in the fighting. This moment marks the beginning of a painful downward spiral for both kings: Joram's wound would prove fatal, and Ahaziah's decision to support him would lead him to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, ultimately costing him his life as well. Sometimes our loyalty to others, even family, can pull us into situations with consequences we don't foresee.
