What does 2 Kings 4:20 mean?

A Shunnamite woman's son has suddenly become ill, and she rushes him to his mother (the child's grandmother). The boy sits on her lap, but by midday he's gone. What makes this moment so tender and heartbreaking is the image of a child seeking comfort in his grandmother's arms even as life slips away, while the women around him are helpless to stop it. The passage doesn't explain what caused his death, which leaves us sitting with the raw reality of loss without easy answers. This is one of those hard Bible moments that doesn't try to soften grief, but it sets the stage for what comes next: the mother's desperate faith and her belief that God can still act.
