What does 2 Kings 3:9 mean?
Three kings joined forces to fight against Moab, but their journey took them on a long, winding path through the desert, and they ran out of water. By the ninth verse of this story, the armies are already in crisis, thirsty and desperate, which sets up why they'll turn to the prophet Elisha for help in the verses that follow. Sometimes when we make plans that seem solid on the surface, we find ourselves facing unexpected hardship anyway, and that's often when we become most open to seeking guidance beyond our own resources.
