What does 2 Kings 3:22 mean?
When the allied armies of Israel, Judah, and Edom were camped in the desert during their campaign against Moab, they faced an unexpected crisis: no water. But overnight, water mysteriously flooded the valley (likely from a rare rainstorm upstream). At sunrise, the Moabites looked across and saw the water glinting red in the early morning light, which to them looked like blood. The Moabites misinterpreted what they were seeing as a sign that the three armies had turned on each other and were slaughtering one another, so they rushed into battle expecting an easy victory.
