What does 2 Kings 24:3 mean?
Judah's exile didn't happen by accident or random misfortune, but was the consequence of accumulated unfaithfulness to God. The passage points back to Manasseh, a king who had done deep spiritual damage to the nation decades earlier through idolatry and injustice, even though he later repented. What this tells us is that our choices, and sometimes the choices of those before us, have real consequences that ripple outward in ways we can't always control or reverse immediately. Yet even in this word about removal and judgment, there's an underlying truth: God doesn't abandon nations or people carelessly, but allows difficult seasons as a way of turning hearts back toward him.
