What does 2 Kings 20:16 mean?

When Isaiah delivers this message to King Hezekiah, he's preparing him for difficult news about consequences coming to his family line. Hezekiah had just been healed miraculously from a terminal illness, and in his gratitude he showed off all his treasures to visiting envoys from Babylon. That prideful display, though understandable, had serious implications for his descendants. Isaiah is essentially saying, "Pay attention, because what God is about to tell you matters deeply," and the weight in those words reflects how hard the truth will be to hear. It's a reminder that even after God's mercy and healing, we're still accountable for our choices, and sometimes we need to brace ourselves to listen honestly to what wisdom requires of us.
