What does 2 Kings 2:3 mean?
A group of prophets knew something was about to happen—that Elijah, Elisha's mentor and teacher, would be taken from him that very day. Rather than let them voice their worry or sorrow, Elisha told them to be quiet, already aware of what was coming. There's something both tender and resolute in his response: he wasn't in denial, but he also wasn't looking for comfort or discussion about his loss.
