What does 2 Kings 19:30 mean?
When Judah faced near-total destruction during an Assyrian siege, this promise came through the prophet Isaiah to King Hezekiah. Even though most of the kingdom seemed lost, God was saying that a small surviving group would not just barely survive but would actually flourish and grow strong again. The image of roots growing downward and fruit growing upward suggests something solid and productive taking shape. It's a picture of genuine restoration, not just hanging on.
