What does 2 Kings 15:9 mean?
King Jeroboam II kept doing the things that angered God, just like the kings before him had done. The verse says he never stepped away from the religious practices that an earlier king named Jeroboam had set up, practices that led the whole nation of Israel away from worshipping God rightly. There's a sad pattern here: one king makes a wrong choice, and then the next king inherits both the throne and the bad practices, repeating them as if they were normal. It's like a family pattern of doing things the wrong way, generation after generation. The verse reminds us that choosing to stay the course with something harmful, even because "that's what we've always done," is still a choice to do evil.
