What does 2 John 1:7 mean?
John is writing to an early church community facing false teachers who denied that Jesus was truly human, truly flesh and blood. This wasn't abstract theology for them, it was a dangerous deception that undermined everything about God's love and redemption, since a God who merely appeared to be human hadn't actually suffered, died, or conquered death on our behalf. When John calls such deception "the Antichrist," he means anything that opposes or contradicts Jesus' true identity and work.
