What does 2 Corinthians 8:3 mean?
Paul is marveling at the generosity of believers in Macedonia who gave money to help struggling Christians in Jerusalem, even though these Macedonian churches were themselves poor. What amazes him isn't the amount they gave, but that they gave freely and sacrificially, beyond what their circumstances would normally allow. Their giving came from genuine desire, not obligation or pressure from leadership.
