What does 2 Corinthians 7:3 mean?
Paul is reassuring the Corinthians that his earlier difficult letter came from love, not judgment. He's saying they hold such a central place in his life and affection that he's willing to share both their hardships and their joys, to stand with them through anything. It's a beautiful expression of deep spiritual partnership, where Paul isn't positioning himself as a distant authority figure laying down the law, but as someone genuinely bound to their wellbeing. When we're struggling or worried we've disappointed someone, hearing that they still see us as family and are committed to us can shift everything.
