What does 2 Corinthians 2:9 mean?
Paul wrote his earlier letter to the Corinthian church as a test of their character, wanting to see whether they would actually follow his guidance on a serious matter of church discipline. He wasn't being controlling for its own sake, but rather checking whether the community would genuinely trust his leadership and do what he believed was spiritually necessary. When we're willing to obey even when it's hard or unclear, we show that we're serious about our faith, not just going through the motions. This is Paul gently reminding them that their actions reveal what they really believe.
